Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
A Stock Controller plays a critical role within an organization by ensuring effective inventory management and control. This position is responsible for overseeing the flow of items into and out of the inventory and ensuring that the stock levels are maintained at optimal levels. The Stock Controller ensures that goods are correctly and safely stored, conducts regular audits, and coordinates closely with suppliers and internal departments to meet the company s inventory requirements. This role is pivotal in minimising stock discrepancies, managing stock takes, and improving overall business efficiency. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure are essential qualities for success in this role. The Stock Controller contributes directly to the financial health of the business by managing stock loss, optimizing stock turnover, and improving stock accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels to match business needs efficiently.
- Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure stock accuracy and address discrepancies.
- Coordinate stock takes and report on the findings to management regularly.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to resolve any supply chain issues.
- Ensure all goods are stored safely and in compliance with company policies.
- Analyze inventory reports and adjust stock levels to reduce waste or overstock.
- Implement and optimize stock control systems and procedures for efficiency.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on inventory management best practices.
- Compile stock status reports for management to assist in strategic planning.
- Liaise with the finance department to align on financial targets related to inventory.
- Ensure all inventory transactions are recorded accurately in the system in real-time.
- Develop strategies to improve stock turnover rates and minimize storage costs.
Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Prior experience in inventory management or stock control roles is essential.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with different departments and suppliers.
