Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Technical Sales Engineer is responsible for driving business growth by providing technical expertise, developing new opportunities and supporting existing customer accounts across industrial and specialty gas applications. The role combines engineering knowledge with strong commercial acumen to deliver tailored solutions, strengthen customer relationships and support the sales team in achieving revenue, margin and market share targets.
Sales Support and Technical Expertise
• Provide technical support to sales team and Country/Sales account manager to drive revenue growth and margin improvement
• Assist in all sales activities for assigned accounts, contributing to joint targets and overall sales performance
• Demonstrate product applications and offer expert guidance to customers on optimal gas usage
Business Development and Customer Management
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within industrial, commercial, and specialty gas sectors
• Conduct detailed customer needs analysis including pricing strategy, negotiation plans, and long- and short-term account objectives
• Promote Gulf Cryo products, troubleshoot application issues, and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers
• Negotiate straightforward agreements to secure long-term commercial partnerships
Account Profitability and Market Intelligence
• Improve profitability of assigned accounts by understanding cost-to-serve elements and customer value propositions
• Analyze customer processes, growth opportunities, and operational needs to support solution development
• Monitor competitor activities, market trends, and technology developments; maintain an updated competitive intelligence database
• Identify value-added opportunities to expand product and technology adoption at customer sites
Internal Coordination and Strategic Alignment
• Collaborate with marketing, customer service, engineering, logistics, production, and other functional teams to align account strategies with internal capabilities and market priorities
• Ensure accurate forecasting to secure product availability and reduce returns
• Prepare and submit weekly forecasts and monthly performance reports
Customer Visits and Reporting
• Conduct regular customer visits across assigned territories and document all interactions, insights, and follow-up actions in the CRM system
• Maintain comprehensive customer visit reports and ensure timely updates
Collections and Compliance
• Support the collections team to achieve targeted Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) for assigned accounts
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety procedures, quality standards, and legal regulations
• Uphold core values and demonstrate professional integrity in all interactions
Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in technical sales, ideally within industrial, specialty, food grade and medical gas systems and applications
• Strong understanding of industrial, specialty, food grade and medical gas products, their applications, and system requirements
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and customer process requirements
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
• Proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office applications
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and customer-service mindset
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required
