Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead the pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for steam boiler systems, ensuring all equipment functions as designed and meets performance criteria.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing of boiler components, including burners, safety valves, and control systems, to verify their operational integrity and compliance with safety standards.
  • Oversee the installation and alignment of boiler systems, including piping, instrumentation, and electrical connections, ensuring adherence to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Develop and execute detailed commissioning plans, including test procedures, checklists, and schedules, to facilitate a systematic and efficient startup process.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during commissioning, utilizing diagnostic tools and technical expertise to identify and rectify malfunctions.
  • Calibrate and optimize boiler control systems, such as combustion control and feedwater regulation, to achieve optimal efficiency and performance.
  • Provide training to operations and maintenance personnel on the proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of steam boiler systems.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive commissioning reports, documenting all testing procedures, results, and any deviations from the original design.
  • Ensure all commissioning activities comply with relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies, including permit to work systems.
  • Collaborate with project teams, including engineers, contractors, and vendors, to ensure seamless integration and successful project completion.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, providing a strong foundation in thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
  • Possession of relevant certifications such as a Professional Engineer (PE) license or a Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) credential, demonstrating professional competence.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience in the testing and commissioning of steam boilers, showcasing practical expertise.
  • Proven experience in the power generation or process industries, indicating familiarity with industrial environments and operational challenges.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications, ensuring accurate execution of tasks.
  • Strong technical skills in using testing and measurement equipment, such as combustion analyzers and pressure gauges, essential for accurate assessments.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, enabling the identification and resolution of complex technical issues under pressure.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating collaboration with cross-functional teams and providing clear technical guidance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating adaptability and a commitment to achieving project goals.
