Position Overview
As a Heritage Tour Guide at the iconic QE2, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional visitor experiences by leading engaging, informative, and memorable tours throughout the historic vessel. Your purpose is to bring the QE2s rich maritime legacy to life while supporting the Tours Team in the smooth operation of daily tour activities. Your expertise and enthusiasm will directly contribute to driving revenue, enhancing guest satisfaction, and reinforcing the QE2 s status as a world-class cultural destination.
Key Responsibilities
Tour Operations & Guest Engagement
- Conduct heritage tours of approximately 1 2 hours for mid-sized groups, confidently presenting to a diverse audience of all ages.
- Deliver captivating narratives about the QE2 s history, architecture, and legacy, ensuring each tour is informative and engaging.
- Welcome and manage tour groups with professionalism and warmth, maintaining control and guest satisfaction throughout the experience.
- Proactively engage with walk-in visitors in the exhibition gallery, offering impromptu tours or insightful conversations about the QE2.
- Manage and conduct private tours tied to special room packages and VIP bookings.
- Consistently provide world-class hospitality to all visitors, ensuring every interaction is handled with professionalism and care.
- Build meaningful connections with guests to drive loyalty and positive word-of-mouth.
- Resolve guest queries or concerns effectively, in line with the QE2 s policies and standards.
- Assist in the planning and preparation of the QE2 and its facilities for VIP visits, special events, and group bookings.
- Maintain accurate records and reservations using the tour booking system.
- Stay up to date with changes in exhibits, promotional activities, and new service offerings.
- Quality & Training
- Perform regular quality inspections of guest-facing areas to ensure tour-readiness and cleanliness.
- Lead product knowledge training sessions to enhance staff awareness and guest service quality.
- Diploma or degree in Tourism, History, Hospitality, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum 1 2 years of experience in public speaking, guest services, or heritage/cultural tourism roles.
- Prior experience conducting guided tours, especially within museums, historic sites, or luxury hospitality environments, is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge or keen interest in maritime history, heritage tourism, or the legacy of the QE2.
- Exceptional storytelling and public speaking abilities, with confidence in presenting to diverse groups of all ages and nationalities.
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills; able to engage guests warmly and professionally.
