Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

• Uses blueprints, templates, jigs and other guides to prepare, modify and/or fabricate metal items
• Performs welding and cutting activities using electric, gas, and inert gas shielded welding and cutting processes
• Includes material planning and the physical layout, positioning, clamping and heating of metal with temperature control
• Ensures processes comply with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards
• Learns, understands and complies with applicable health, safety and environment directives
• Participates in the development of a safe and healthy working environment
• Ensures compliance with all company policies, manuals, procedures and work instructions
• Perform welding and cutting activities using various materials including mild steel, aluminium, stainless steel and other non-ferrous metals based on engineering specifications
• Work with light, heavy gauge and hardened metals welding in Flat, Vertical, Horizontal and Overhead positions
• Execute welds and cuts from simple to precision and recommend alternative methods when design characteristics cannot be met
• Perform welding work layout, plan operation sequence, set up parameters and operate specialised welding equipment
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams and schematics for sheet metal forms according to part specs
• Comply with all safety, housekeeping and environmental directives
• Maintain equipment via user preventive maintenance
• Ensure all issued tools, uniforms and PPE are accounted for, maintained and secured
• Maintain confidentiality and security of all company information
• Support other members of the Fabrication Workshop in fulfilling roles
• Perform other duties as required by line manager and Manager, Fabrication

Desired Candidate Profile

• Previous experience using MIG, TIG, and Plasma welding and cutting equipment is an advantage

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and SAP is preferred

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
