Roles & Responsibilities

The Department of Business and Economics at MCBS invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Aviation Management within the transportation, logistics, and safety management area. The successful candidate will teach aviation-related courses, contribute to academic development and research, advise students, and support quality assurance and accreditation activities.

Core teaching areas may include:

Aviation Management; Airline Management; Air Operations Management; Aviation Safety; Aviation Law; Air Traffic Management; Air Cargo Management; Accident Prevention and Causation; Meteorology for Aviation; Aviation Strategy and Regulation.

Key responsibilities:

Teach undergraduate aviation management courses in face-to-face, online, and blended modes.

Develop and maintain syllabi, aviation case studies, learning resources, assessments, rubrics, course files, and practical learning activities.

Integrate aviation industry standards, safety culture, airline operations, regulation, and Oman/GCC aviation examples into teaching.

Conduct research and publish in peer-reviewed journals; contribute to aviation, transport, logistics, safety, and management-related scholarship.

Advise students, supervise projects/capstones, support internships, and engage with aviation industry stakeholders.

Participate in curriculum review, Assurance of Learning, moderation, accreditation evidence preparation, academic committees, and continuous improvement.

Required qualifications:

Assistant/Associate Professor: PhD/DBA in Aviation Management, Airline Management, Transportation Management, Logistics, Safety Management, Business Administration with aviation focus, or a closely related field from a recognized university.

Associate Professor candidates should demonstrate peer-reviewed publications, academic leadership, supervision experience, and service.

Evidence of teaching effectiveness and ability to teach online/hybrid courses using appropriate educational technologies.

Bilingual Arabic-English communication is preferred; ability to teach in Arabic is an advantage where program needs require it.

Experience with quality assurance, AACSB/OAAAQA/OQF-aligned assessment, CLO/PLO mapping, moderation, and accreditation documentation is strongly preferred.

Preferred qualifications and experience:

Industry experience with airlines, aviation safety, air operations, air traffic, logistics, or regulatory bodies.

Professional certifications or training related to aviation, safety, transport, or logistics.

Ability to support industry engagement, student internships, applied projects, and aviation-sector partnerships.

AACSB-aligned contribution expected:

Maintain academic/professional currency appropriate to the appointed rank and faculty qualification category.

Contribute to faculty sufficiency, teaching effectiveness, Assurance of Learning, curriculum improvement, research impact, and engagement with professional/community stakeholders.

Provide evidence for course files, assessment moderation, closing-the-loop actions, and accreditation-related reporting when required.
