Roles & Responsibilities
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced IBM CDC Specialist to support the design, installation, configuration, and validation of IBM Change Data Capture (CDC) / IBM InfoSphere Data Replication (IIDR) solutions in an enterprise Oracle environment. The role involves handson implementation and troubleshooting of CDC replication, including Oracle XStreambased replication in Oracle 19c RAC with TDE enabled databases.
Key Responsibilities
CDC Implementation & Configuration
- Install and configure IBM CDC Replication Engine for Oracle (XStream)
- Configure CDC source and target instances in Oracle 19c RAC (2node) environments
- Set up Access Server and Management Console integration for new CDC instances
- Design and configure CDC subscriptions, including:
- Replicating data from multiple source tables to a single target table
- Managing multiple subscriptions (approx. 14 subscriptions)
Oracle & XStream Activities
- Configure and validate Oracle XStream Outbound Server
- Create and manage required Oracle users, privileges, and grants
- Ensure CDC compatibility with Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)
- Validate redo log access and SCNbased replication start points
Operations & Validation
- Start and monitor CDC replication without full refresh (logbased replication only)
- Perform functional testing and validation of data movement
- Troubleshoot replication lag, apply errors, and connectivity issues
- Participate in RAC failover and resilience testing
- Provide basic documentation and knowledge transfer support
Required Skills & Experience
Mandatory Skills
- 5+ years of handson experience with IBM CDC / IBM InfoSphere Data Replication
- Strong experience with Oracle CDC using XStream
- Experience with Oracle 19c RAC environments
- Solid understanding of CDC logbased replication concepts
- Experience configuring and managing CDC subscriptions
- Strong troubleshooting skills in productionlike environments
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Experience with TDEenabled Oracle databases
- Experience with CDC DR / HA replication architectures
- Familiarity with SCNbased starts and bookmark management
- Ability to work independently in an onsite, customerfacing role
