Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of the stewarding department, ensuring impeccable cleanliness and hygiene standards are consistently maintained across all kitchen and service areas.
- Manage and train a team of stewards, fostering a positive and productive work environment that promotes teamwork and professional growth.
- Develop and maintain efficient dishwashing procedures, optimizing workflow and ensuring the timely availability of clean and sanitized dishware and utensils.
- Manage the proper handling and disposal of waste, adhering to all local regulations and environmental best practices.
- Conduct regular inspections of all stewarding areas and equipment, identifying and addressing any maintenance needs or safety hazards promptly.
- Collaborate with the kitchen and service teams to ensure seamless operational flow, providing support and assistance as needed during peak service times.
- Maintain a detailed record of all equipment maintenance and repairs, ensuring all equipment is in good working order.
- Control and manage the budget for the stewarding department and all related expenses, ensuring financial targets are met.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Possession of food safety certifications such as HACCP or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in stewarding or a related role within a high-volume hospitality environment.
- Proven experience in managing and leading a team of stewards.
- Must be fluent in English; additional language skills are a plus.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain a positive attitude.
- Must have strong physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and maintain inventory control systems.
- Strong understanding of kitchen equipment operation and maintenance.
