Job Description

A Database Administrator (DBA) is a crucial role in managing, storing, and organizing data within an organization. With the increasing reliance on data-driven decision-making, a DBA ensures that data is efficiently stored, easily retrievable, and remains secure. The role involves designing and maintaining databases to ensure their optimum performance and availability. Additionally, DBAs are responsible for implementing strict security measures, optimizing database performance, monitoring systems, and routinely performing backups to protect against data loss. They work closely with IT teams, developers, and other stakeholders to cater to data needs and troubleshoot any issues promptly. DBAs must also remain updated with emerging technologies and advancements in database management to ensure systems are up-to-date and secure.


Responsibilities
  • Design and implement database structures to support business applications.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance to ensure high availability.
  • Conduct regular backups to safeguard data and support disaster recovery plans.
  • Ensure all database systems meet security and compliance requirements.
  • Work closely with developers to optimize SQL queries and database designs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues and errors efficiently.
  • Implement and manage database access permissions and privileges.
  • Create and maintain documentation for database configurations and procedures.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging database technologies and suggest improvements.
  • Manage and configure database management systems such as SQL Server or Oracle.
  • Set policies and standards for the use of databases across the organization.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to maintain a robust database environment.

Requirements
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field.
  • Proven experience with database management systems like Oracle or SQL Server.
  • Strong understanding of database security, backup, and recovery procedures.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a DBA role.
  • Familiarity with cloud database technologies and virtualization practices.
  • Experience in writing and optimizing SQL queries for performance improvement.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with various technical teams.
