Roles & Responsibilities

The Demi Chef in the Oriental Pastry Kitchen supports the Pastry Chef and the kitchen team in preparing and delivering high-quality oriental pastries, desserts, and baked goods. This role involves assisting in daily food preparation, ensuring consistency in dishes, and maintaining the highest standards of kitchen hygiene. The ideal candidate will have a passion for pastry and experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked items.
  • Help manage a specific section of the pastry kitchen, ensuring timely preparation and delivery of all items.
  • Follow recipes and kitchen standards to ensure consistency in taste, portion size, and presentation.
  • Monitor stock levels for your section, ensuring ingredients are fresh and available, and assist with inventory checks.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards as per HACCP.
  • Collaborate closely with the Chef de Partie and other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service during busy periods.
  • Assist in proper storage of food supplies, ensuring correct labeling and rotation (FIFO system).
  • Support the training of junior kitchen staff as needed.
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen, ensuring a safe and hazard-free working environment.
