Roles & Responsibilities

Job Description
The role supports the growth and management of client relationships across the Energy & Natural Resources (ENR) sector, with a focus on Oil & Gas, Metals & Mining, and Structured Commodity Finance (PXF, RBL, Prepayments). The Director will have experience in structured finance, financial modelling and contribute to deal execution, client prospecting analysis, credit screening, preparation of marketing and presentation materials and briefings, day to day portfolio management and market research. The role includes supporting the management of a portfolio of ENR clients, originating new business opportunities, and delivering high‑quality outputs independently.

The ENR team is part of FAB’s Wholesale Banking Group which covers the energy value chain. The sector operates in 4 distinct verticals including (i) Oil, Gas & New Energies, (2) Utilities, Power & Renewables, (3) Metals & Mining and (4) Commodity Traders. The team consists of sector specialists across these subsectors.  

 

Client Relationship Management:

Proactively contribute to originating new opportunities with target ENR clients across banking products
Examine & resolve credit, market and operational risk aspects of the transactions in collaboration with products and enablement units. 
Support the development and execution of Term Sheets, Legal Documentation, Information Memorandum, Financial Models, etc.; 
Staying informed regarding the latest developments in the ENR space globally, advising clients on latest developments in the sector.
Maintain the credit quality of the clients relationships within the Portfolio to an acceptable level set by the Bank’s management.
Identify & develop cross selling opportunities and increase the cross-sell ratio with key clients in the portfolio. 
Technical & Transactional Contribution:
Review and analyse complex, structured financing transactions in the ENR space.
Prepare and present well-structured, clear presentations for internal committees and client meetings.
Conduct financial modelling and scenario analysis to support transaction structuring and client pitches.
Review term sheets and other relevant transaction-related documents, work with the rest of the del team to identify key strengths and address key weaknesses from a structural and commercial perspective. 
Ability to understand and explain complex transactions to internal stakeholders as required.  
Client and Sector Knowledge:
Fully informed regarding the latest developments in the ENR space.
Participate in the financial analysis conducted on clients and their respective industries in the ENR sector to help identify potential opportunities and sector-related risks.
Credit & Risk Analysis
Review and analyse financial statements to form a firm view of credit profiles. 
Proactively work with credit team on all credit submissions with a focus on ensuring that the contribution from the relationship team is punctual and insightful.
Identify key credit risks and mitigants, and expand risk analysis to include sanctions, reputational, and ESG risks as necessary.
Build strong relationships with peers in the credit team and foster a culture of communication and collaboration. 
MIS and Reports:
Review and analyse financial statements, MIS and reports to keep track of performance vs. budgets
Minimum Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Maths or relevant discipline;
MBA/CFA or other equivalent qualification is a positive.
Minimum Experience:
The successful candidate will have worked in an International Banking environment, preferably in an energy coverage, structured finance or an advisory role for a minimum of >5 years.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes: 
Strong understanding of the energy sector with a focus on Oil & Gas and Metals & Mining.
Strong written and oral communication skills; detail-oriented and accurate
Strong financial and credit analysis capabilities
Strong financial modelling capabilities 
Familiarity with different financing structures; PF, RBL, PXF, Prepay, etc.
Excellent presentation and communication skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities
Committed and dedicated team player, self-motivated high quality/high quantity producer
