Role Overview

The General Manager will set and execute the strategic vision for the automotive division, ensure profitable growth, streamline operational efficiency across sales, service, rentals and aftersales, and strengthen brand performance across the market. This leader will be accountable for full P&L ownership and operational excellence in a multi-function automotive business.

Key Responsibilities

-Strategic Leadership

Champion business strategy, planning, and execution aligned with organizational goals.

Drive long-term vision and operational priorities across sales, service, rentals, and parts.

-Operations & Performance

Deliver consistent financial performance (P&L, budget, forecasting, cost control).

Ensure efficient dealership and service operations, optimizing inventory, workflow, and customer journeys.

-Sales & Commercial Growth

Lead strategies to grow new and used vehicle sales, rental revenue, and market share.

Enhance pricing, incentives, and fleet management practices.

-Aftersales & Service Excellence

Strengthen service processes and KPIs (retention, utilization, profitability).

Improve parts availability, warranty processes, and service turnaround.

-People Management & Culture

Build and develop high-performing teams across departments.

Implement performance management, succession planning, and training programs.

-Customer & Dealer Relations

Ensure exceptional customer experience and brand reputation in the market.

Maintain strong OEM and supplier relationships, ensuring compliance and collaboration.

-Compliance & Risk

Oversee compliance with industry, regulatory, and OEM standards.

Ensure controls for operational, financial, and market risks.

Required Skills & Competencies

Leadership in automotive sales, aftersales, and multi-site operations

Financial acumen with proven P&L responsibility

Strong commercial and strategic planning capability

Desired Candidate Profile

Experience

  • 8 to 20 years of progressive experience in the automotive industry

  • Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role such as General Manager, Operations Director, Dealer Principal, or Country Head

  • Proven end to end P&L ownership and financial accountability

  • Experience across automotive sales, aftersales, service, parts, and preferably rentals or fleet operations

  • Background in multi-branch or multi-brand automotive operations is a strong advantage

Leadership & Management

  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, cross-functional teams

  • Strong decision-making under operational and financial pressure

  • Experience building senior leadership teams and succession pipelines

  • Ability to drive performance culture using KPIs and incentive structures

Commercial & Financial Skills

  • Strong understanding of revenue models in automotive businesses

  • Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and working capital management

  • Experience managing inventory financing, stock aging, and margin optimization

  • Ability to negotiate with OEMs, banks, insurers, and key suppliers

Sales, Aftersales & Operations

  • Deep understanding of new and used vehicle sales operations

  • Strong aftersales and service management knowledge, including workshop productivity and retention

  • Experience optimizing parts inventory, warranty, and service profitability

  • Ability to improve customer experience and operational efficiency simultaneously

Systems, Process & Technology

  • Hands-on experience with Dealer Management Systems (DMS) and CRM platforms

  • Strong data literacy, ability to manage by dashboards and operational reports

  • Experience improving SOPs, governance, and compliance frameworks

  • Exposure to digital transformation, automation, or data-driven operations is preferred

Stakeholder & Market Management

  • Proven ability to manage OEM relationships and compliance standards

  • Strong external representation with government, regulators, and partners

  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and risk awareness

Education & Personal Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Automotive Management, or related field

  • MBA or equivalent qualification preferred

  • Strategic thinker with a strong execution mindset

  • High adaptability in dynamic, emerging, or growth markets
