Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Production Manager to lead our workshop and production floor. You will be the crucial link between the creative vision and the physical reality. Your primary mission will be to manage the production lifecycle from brief to build, ensuring projects are delivered with speed, precision, and the highest quality standards. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team, with a strong emphasis on joinery, while coordinating with other departments to ensure seamless integration and flawless execution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Technical Leadership
Brief Interpretation: Collaborate with Account Managers to take detailed project briefs, understanding the creative vision, objectives, and budget constraints.
Technical Problem Solving: Analyze designs, renders, and AutoCAD drawings to identify potential production challenges. Propose innovative and cost-effective technical solutions without compromising the design integrity.
Drawing Review & Feedback: Serve as the technical authority on joinery and construction. Review AutoCAD drawings and provide actionable feedback to the design team to improve manufacturability, structural integrity, and efficiency.
Process Management: Plan and manage the end-to-end production schedule, ensuring a fast turnaround for projects with tight deadlines.
2. Department & Workflow Management
Team Leadership: Directly manage and schedule the production crew, including carpenters, painters, and acrylic specialists. Delegate tasks effectively to maximize productivity.
Cross-Departmental Coordination:
Joinery (Primary Focus): Oversee the joinery department, ensuring all carpentry and woodwork meets the highest standards of quality and precision.
Paint & Finish: Supervise the paint department to ensure all surfaces are finished to exhibition-grade quality, matching specified colors and textures.
Metal & Acrylic Integration: Work closely with the metal department and oversee the acrylic department to ensure all structural elements, fixtures, and specialty fabrications are completed on time and integrate perfectly with the joinery components.
Quality Control: Implement and enforce rigorous quality checks at every stage of production, from raw material to final assembly.
3. Resource & Crew Management
Workforce Planning: Efficiently plan and manage crew schedules, ensuring the right skills are allocated to the right tasks to meet production milestones.
Resource Optimization: Manage materials and resources effectively to minimize waste and adhere to project budgets.
Problem Prevention: Proactively monitor the production floor to troubleshoot issues, resolve bottlenecks, and keep projects moving forward.
Desired Candidate Profile
Experience:
Minimum 10 years of experience working in a production house or workshop specifically focused on events, exhibitions, and experiential marketing builds.
Technical Expertise:
Joinery Mastery: Extensive, hands-on knowledge of joinery techniques, materials, and construction methods for temporary structures and high-end event sets.
Drawing Proficiency: Expert ability to read, interpret, and critique AutoCAD drawings, technical plans, and 3D renders.
Cross-Disciplinary Knowledge: Strong understanding of metal fabrication, acrylic work, and painting/finishing processes, and how these disciplines integrate with joinery.
Core Competencies:
Speed & Quality: Proven ability to manage fast-turnaround projects while maintaining "upmost" (utmost) attention to detail and finish quality.
Cost-Consciousness: A knack for providing creative, cost-effective technical solutions that meet the brief and the budget.
Planning & Organization: Exceptional skills in production planning, scheduling, and managing a diverse crew to hit tight deadlines.
Communication: Strong ability to act as a bridge between Account Managers, Designers, and the production floor, translating creative concepts into actionable work orders.
Leadership: A hands-on leader who can motivate a team, drive performance, and maintain a positive, efficient workshop environment.
