Roles & Responsibilities
About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor (QS) to join our engineering team. As a QS, you will be responsible for managing the costs and budgets of construction projects, ensuring that they are completed within the financial constraints and adhering to the highest standards of quality. You will work closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and project cost control.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare cost estimates and bills of quantities (BoQs) for engineering and construction projects.
Conduct cost analysis, manage project budgets, and track progress to ensure projects are completed within budget.
Review and analyze tenders, ensuring accurate pricing and risk management.
Negotiate with contractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure value for money.
Monitor and control project costs, identify cost overruns, and propose corrective actions.
Prepare regular financial reports, including cost forecasts and cash flows.
Assist in contract management, including reviewing contracts and ensuring compliance with terms.
Liaise with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure smooth project execution.
Advise on procurement strategies, including subcontractor selection and material sourcing.
Desired Candidate Profile
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience (X years) as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably within the engineering or construction industry.
Strong knowledge of construction contracts, costing methods, and project management.
Proficiency in using QS software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, BuildSoft) and MS Office applications.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial reporting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with international or large-scale projects.
Knowledge of local construction laws, regulations, and standards.
