Job Description The Khalifa Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Assistant Research Professor in Bioinformatics and Population Genetics. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research in genetic engineering, focusing on population genetics, evolutionary biology, and bioinformatics methodologies.Minimum Qualification Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Population Genetics, Genomics, or a related field. - Proven experience in bioinformatics analysis, particularly in population genetics or evolutionary studies. - Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, or Perl, and familiarity with bioinformatics tools and databases. - Strong understanding of statistical genetics, evolutionary theory, and relevant methodologies. - Excellent communication skills, with a track record of publishing research and presenting findings. - Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment. - Experience in mentoring students or junior researchers is preferred.Preferred Qualification Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Population Genetics, Genomics, or a related field. - Proven experience in bioinformatics analysis, particularly in population genetics or evolutionary studies. - Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, or Perl, and familiarity with bioinformatics tools and databases. - Strong understanding of statistical genetics, evolutionary theory, and relevant methodologies. - Excellent communication skills, with a track record of publishing research and presenting findings. - Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment. - Experience in mentoring students or junior researchers is preferred.Expected Skills Key Responsibilities: - Conduct independent and collaborative research in bioinformatics and population genetics, contributing to the center's strategic research goals. - Develop and implement bioinformatic tools and pipelines for analyzing genomic data, including next-generation sequencing (NGS) data. - Analyze genetic variation within and between populations, applying statistical methods to interpret population structure, gene flow, and evolutionary dynamics. The candidate must very well verse on genome structure including transposons. - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate bioinformatics with experimental research in genetics and biotechnology. - Mentor graduate students and junior researchers, providing guidance in research methodologies, data analysis, and scientific writing. - Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international.
