Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Support Syscom’s mission by combining technical automation expertise (PLC, SCADA, RTU, instrumentation) with commercial skills: prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates, contribute to pre-sales proposals, and drive profitable project wins in water, infrastructure, and other key sectors. Syscom is a turnkey automation solutions provider in the Middle East.


1. Estimation & Tendering
- Analyze client RFQs / tender documents
- Review drawings, specifications, scope of work
- Perform quantity take‑offs, BOQ (bill of quantities) preparation
- Prepare cost estimates (materials, labor, subcontractors, OPEX)
- Propose value engineering where possible
- Work with procurement to get vendor quotes / rates
- Build and maintain cost databases for recurring automation equipment

2. Pre‑Sales / Sales Support
- Prepare technical proposals, solution scoping, and system architecture
- Collaborate with Syscom’s engineering teams (design, commissioning) to define the best automation/control solution
- Participate in customer meetings to clarify technical aspects
- Provide product / system demonstrations or workshops if needed

3. Commercial & Pricing Strategy
- Develop pricing models for different automation solutions (PLC, SCADA, safety systems, etc.)
- Work with finance / management to set margins and pricing strategy
- Negotiate with vendors to optimize cost
- Ensure profitability on bids

4. Project Handover & Coordination
- Once a bid is won, liaise with engineering / project delivery teams to hand over scope, BOQ, assumptions
- Support post-award clarifications / change order estimation

5. Market & Technical Research
- Keep up-to-date with automation / control market trends, technologies (PLC platforms, SCADA vendors, etc.)
- Monitor competition, component costs, supplier landscape
- Recommend new cost-saving or value-adding strategies

6. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare bid summary reports, margin analysis, risk assessments
- Maintain estimation templates, libraries, and historical cost data
- Provide regular reports to sales / commercial leadership on pipeline, bid status, and expected profitability

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications / Skills-

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Instrumentation, Control Systems, or similar)
- 5–8 years of experience in estimation, sales engineering, cost engineering, preferably in automation, instrumentation, or industrial projects
- Strong technical knowledge: PLC, SCADA, RTUs, instrumentation, control systems
- Proficiency in cost estimation tools, Microsoft Excel, MS‑Office, possibly AutoCAD or similar
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and negotiation skills
- Good presentation and communication skills (technical + commercial)
- Ability to work cross-functionally (sales, engineering, procurement)
- Knowledge of GCC / UAE market and relevant suppliers is a plus
- Experience with tendering in industrial / water / infrastructure projects is desirable
