Roles & Responsibilities

The Swedish Food Market & Bistro Assistant's main purpose is to support the Food & Beverages Manager in executing the IKEA Food Service Concept across various IKEA food venues. The role requires overseeing kitchen and production area operations to maintain high standards, strengthening IKEA's image as a superior home furnishing store within the local market. Key success factors include guest satisfaction, meeting sales growth targets, and ensuring food service efficiency.


What You Will Do:

  • Ensure our guests are always in focus and strive to make them smile. Meet and serve our guests showing empathy and care.

  • Lead by example and be a good ambassador for the IKEA store in all contact with our guests, providing them a reason to return.

  • Engage in daily dialogues with guests to gather feedback and learn more about their needs and wants, acting on their input.

  • Empower and encourage the team to take immediate action to meet guest needs and provide input for continuous improvement.

  • Ensure guests have a great shopping experience throughout the day.

  • Review the store business plan and IKEA Food action plans; contribute to the area's action plan by supporting your manager.

  • Secure an irresistible food offer through attractive presentation and communication of the range.

  • Be passionate and knowledgeable about products, sharing this information with customers and colleagues.

  • Ensure top-selling products are available, communicated, and displayed at all times.

  • Support the manager in implementing in-store activities and range changes in a cost-effective manner.

  • Initiate commercial activities during quiet times to attract store visitors and increase take-up rate.

  • Maintain the area efficiently, ensuring it is clean, organized, and inviting to enhance customer experience.

  • Use local market awareness to provide input on range and pricing.

  • Work actively to ensure the IKEA store is successful and high-performing by attracting visitors, growing sales, and ensuring guest satisfaction.

  • Monitor and control food, operational, and productivity costs.

  • Organize business area efficiently regarding financial performance including profit, costs, and productivity.

  • Ensure implementation and follow-up of SOP rules and guidelines.

  • Ensure co-workers in the area understand the IKEA Concept and its impact on their roles.

  • Lead by example, supporting and coaching colleagues so they can meet customer needs while growing professionally.

  • Create and maintain an environment where IKEA culture and diversity are valued, establishing IKEA Food as a great place to work.

  • Actively participate in team efforts and cooperate with colleagues in other store areas.

  • Keep colleagues informed to help them perform their roles effectively, encouraging knowledge sharing.

  • Perform tasks requiring prolonged standing duration.

  • Ensure compliance with Food Safety and Hygiene practices.

  • Respond to customer needs and requests pleasantly.

  • Ensure products are in good condition and correctly priced.

  • Upkeep cleanliness and hygiene standards continuously.

  • Possess fast food/cafeteria and cashiering experience, able to perform manual chores.

What Qualifies You For The Role:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years food service supervisory experience, preferably in high-volume business.

  • High School/Trade School graduate, preferably with studies in hotel, business, or culinary fields.

  • Interest and knowledge of the culinary or food service industry.

  • Ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced, and changing retail environment.
