Job Description

The Technical Manager will provide the management team with advice and information to optimise quality, economics and end-user appreciation of concrete mixes. This will require

• Preparation and control of mix designs in accordance with applicable National and International standards

• Control of laboratory activities

• Maintenance of computer-operated plant databases

• Control of material suppliers

• Customer support

• Sales and operational support

• Production of regular management reports

He will take overall responsibility for the performance of the Technical Department, achieving goals in line with company objectives and maintaining full compliance with third party accreditation for the company Quality Management System. This includes, but not limited to, Health and Safety, Staff Recruitment, Training and Discipline, Management of Resources, and the integration of technical functions with other departments.

He will provide expert guidance to Consulting Engineers and Contractors regarding specifications, and he will be key to avoiding or resolving technical disputes.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate shall have minimum 10 years’ supervisory/management experience of precast concrete and ready mixed concrete operations.

He will have a minimum degree level education supplemented by formal concrete technology qualifications. These qualifications are likely to include Membership/Associate Membership of a recognised Engineering or Concrete body.

Success in the position will require excellent knowledge of both European & American concrete standards and Quality Management Systems. It will also require expertise in technical correspondence with official bodies

The candidate must be capable of interpreting Excel data for presentations to non-technical staff. It will necessarily need a high level of computer literacy and analysis for technical matters.
