Job Description

Transformation Office Portfolio Leader is responsible for governing the technology projects portfolio of change across agreed Mashreq s groups.

  • Collaborates with respective Groups to articulate a clear and compelling transformation vision, outlining the desired future state and desired strategic outcomes.
  • Works with the respective Owners within Groups to ensure that all transformation initiatives are aligned with Mashreqs strategic goals and objectives, by providing active support and coordination during the budgeting, initiation and planning cycles,
  • Fosters close collaboration with senior leadership to ensure buy-in support, and effective decision-making throughout the transformation journeys.
  • Agrees, establishes and applies prioritization criteria to the transformation initiatives to support the execution of the overall bank strategy and growth aspirations, leveraging on synergies where possible, ensuring a balanced focus on achieving short-term improvements while building long-term value for sustainable growth,
  • Acts as Initiation Lead, either directly or by identifying resources to hold this role, and coordinate the activities related to initiation, planning, estimations, articulations of the benefits and business case to be included in the request for budgets in the form of the Executive Summary.
  • Review Executive Summaries, make best effort to check for completeness of the estimates and be one of the mandatory signatories,
  • Monitors and reports on the transformation initiatives roadmap at the Mashreq and Group levels, and escalates concerns as necessary,
  • Ensures transparency and access to accurate information by maintaining the single source of truth on the transformation initiatives,
  • Defines and implements a communication strategy to regularly disseminate and communicate progress updates and outcomes of transformation initiatives to the right stakeholders, ensuring transparency,
  • Works with key stakeholders to optimize allocation of resources, including talent, technology, and finances, for efficient utilization toward delivery excellence.
  • Leads projects managers in the management of projects within the Portfolio. Assures that the execution of projects is done in accordance with Mashreq s Methods.
  • Provides training and knowledge transfer as required on TO approved ways of working.
  • Contributes to the development of Mashreq s Delivery Methods.
  • Work towards continuously improving Mashreq s delivery capabilities thus maximizing the opportunities for business value creation from transformation initiatives.
  • Technology Projects Portfolio Management
    • Oversee the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of technology projects with one or many Groups across the organization, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives for both local and overseas operations.
  • Project Management Governance
    • Establish and maintain robust project management frameworks, methodologies, and standardized reporting processes to support effective execution and oversight of all technology initiatives.
  • Leadership of Project Managers
    • Assign, coach, and mentor project managers, fostering professional development and cultivating a collaborative, high-performance project delivery culture within the Transformation Office.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Build and maintain trusted partnerships with Business Group Heads, operations units, risk review divisions (Technology GRC, ISG, ORM, Internal Audit), compliance, procurement, finance, and other support functions to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Drive ongoing enhancement of project management practices, proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement, risk mitigation, and optimization of resources to support timely and quality delivery.
  • Strategic Advisory
    • Serve as trusted advisor to Group leaders, providing insights and guidance on demand, alignment with strategic goals, prioritization, dependency, execution and benefit realization.
    • Master s degree with at least 15 years of experience in banking industry with project management certification or equivalent practical experience.
    • In depth knowledge of financial institutions with a deep knowledge of business areas especially Retail.
    • Strong Portfolio/ Program management and general management skills.
    • Previous experience working in a Project / Program Management office or in a large Project environment.
    • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with the stakeholders across the organization
