Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Oversee the efficient and safe loading, unloading, and storage of steel products within the yard, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
  • Manage and maintain accurate inventory records of all steel products, including regular physical counts and reconciliation with the inventory management system.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of yard staff, including assigning tasks, providing training, and evaluating performance to maximize productivity.
  • Inspect incoming and outgoing steel products for quality and damage, documenting any discrepancies and coordinating corrective actions with relevant departments.
  • Ensure the proper segregation and storage of steel products based on type, grade, and customer requirements, preventing cross-contamination and damage.
  • Implement and enforce safety regulations and best practices within the yard, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe operating procedures.
  • Coordinate with sales, logistics, and other departments to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment, minimizing delays and customer complaints.
  • Manage the maintenance and upkeep of yard equipment, such as forklifts, cranes, and other machinery, to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on yard operations, including inventory levels, stock movements, and performance metrics.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve yard efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance safety through process improvements and technology adoption.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) is essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively managing and motivating a diverse team.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to handle unexpected situations and resolve conflicts effectively.
