Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate SIRE 2.0, CDI, RightShip, PSC, OCIMF, and oil major vetting inspections.
  • Ensure required documents (Q88, HVPQ, SIRE 2.0 questionnaires, certificates, PMS records, logs) are updated before each inspection.
  • Liaise with Vessel Master, Chief Engineer, Marine Superintendent, and technical teams regarding inspection schedules.
  • Maintain up-to-date vessel documentation in vetting platforms (SIRE 2.0 VIQ, OCIMF, RightShip).
  • Ensure vessels comply with TMSA requirements, OCIMF standards, and charterer expectations.
  • Monitor expiry dates of statutory/class certificates and follow up with technical teams.
  • Track inspection observations and non-conformities.
  • Coordinate with ship staff and technical departments to ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Submit responses to oil majors, CDI, charterers, and vetting platforms.
  • Review navigational audits, passage plans, PSC deficiencies, near-misses, incident reports.
  • Identify trends and risks; escalate to Marine/Vetting Superintendent for corrective action.

Desired Candidate Profile

1. Background & Experience (Non-Negotiable)

  • Ex-seafarer strongly strongly preferred — ideally 2nd Officer or Chief Officer background.
  • Minimum 2–4 years sea experience on:
    Oil/Chemical Tankers
    Product Tankers
    Offshore Support Vessels (OSVs with tanker operations exposure)
  • Experience working with:
    OCIMF / SIRE 2.0 standards
    TMSA elements
    ISM / ISPS / MLC
  • Must have prior involvement in:
    Vetting inspections
    Port State Control interactions
    Navigational audits
    Passage plan preparation and correction

2. Technical Skills Required

  • Strong understanding of:
    SOLAS
    MARPOL
    STCW
    Company SMS
    Charterer vetting requirements
  • Experience with maritime digital platforms:
    SIRE 2.0 VIQ
    RightShip
    Q88 / HVPQ
    Dryad / OCIMF systems
  • Ability to identify root causes and propose corrective actions for inspection deficiencies.

3. Competency & Performance Requirements

  • Strong analytical and documentation skills.
  • Able to perform gap assessments before vetting inspections.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail — zero-tolerance for errors.
  • Ability to handle tight deadlines from oil majors.
  • Strong follow-up discipline with vessel crew and technical teams.

4. Behavioral & Soft Skills

  • Proactive and structured working approach.
  • Able to communicate clearly with Master, Chief Engineer, and Superintendent.
  • Professional confidence — able to challenge incorrect or incomplete information.
  • High integrity and confidentiality in handling vessel documents.
  • Calm under pressure, especially during last-minute vetting requests.

5. Additional Preferred Qualities

  • Prior shore-based experience in Marine / Vetting / HSEQ is a plus.
  • Exposure to offshore fleet vetting (CBED, accommodation/barge operations) is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with dry-docking, audits, near-miss analysis, and incident investigation.
