Roles & Responsibilities


Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Assurance Program Development

  • Develop, implement, maintain and document the quality assurance program, policies, and SOPs to ensure compliance with organic certification standards, food safety standards, and company objectives.

2. Food Safety, Laboratory Services and Laboratory development

  • Undertake risk assessments and with assistance from department heads design and implement documented HACCP systems across the farm.
  • Liaise with external laboratories to ensure accurate and uninterrupted testing services and reporting.
  • Lead the establishment of a new on-site food safety laboratory, including hiring and onboarding key personnel.

4. Training and Development

  • Design, deliver and document staff training on food safety, quality standards, and best practices.
  • Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

5. Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance applicable food safety and organic certification requirements.
  • Prepare for and manage food safety and certification audits and inspections, addressing any non-conformities effectively.
  • Oversee product labeling and packaging compliance for various markets.

6. Data Management and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Analyze quality data and identify trends to recommend process improvements.

7. Problem Solving and Corrective Action

  • Investigate quality issues and non-conformities, implementing corrective and preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with production and supply chain teams to resolve quality challenges.
  • Design, implement and oversee a complaints procedure and ensure critical feedback is received and utilized effectively. Establish and maintain an effective product recall procedure.

8. Supplier Quality Management

  • Evaluate and audit suppliers to ensure raw material compliance with organic and quality standards.
  • Work closely with suppliers to maintain product quality.

9. Continuous Improvement

  • Lead initiatives to improve product quality, efficiency, and safety using methodologies such as Lean or other best practices.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Agriculture, Quality Assurance, or a related field; Master’s degree or certifications (HACCP, ISO 9001) preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing and developing quality assurance programs in the food industry, preferably in dairy or organic processing.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, organic certification processes, and QA/QC methodologies.
  • Proven experience establishing food safety laboratories and conducting microbiological testing.
  • Demonstrated success in taking products from R&D to market.
  • Experience working with EU and/or USDA regulatory frameworks.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

The position involves developing and maintaining quality assurance systems, conducting internal audits, managing compliance, training staff, and driving a culture of continuous improvement.
