Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
To align and execute product strategies in order to maximize Fee and interest earnings for the bank while keeping the cost of funds to minimal, through necessary policies/ OPs/systems as key enablers for enhanced core product penetration.
Work closely with projects, sales, risk/policy, credit, operations, IT, SEU and other departments to deliver business product most efficiently for achievement of budgetary targets
Ensure that assigned short term/long term business goals, priorities and financial targets, including but not limited to business growth and portfolio expansion, are realized in a cost effective and low risk manner, and in line with bank s strategic intent
Assess quality, potential and profitability of BBG products as well as the existing portfolio, and take prompt action/review of strategy in response to market and competition dynamics, in order to maximize Fee and interest earnings for the bank
Create/prune/maintain-renew and present product proposals as well as calculation of business cases and take responsibility for enhancement of BBG s portfolio of products and services basis inputs from stakeholders/ independent research
To develop repeatable processes or improve existing processes in and out of product development, including prompt redressal of product/process challenges or gaps which may potentially impair department s ability to meet financial goals.
To create or enhance existing security or legal documentation or alternatively agreements with the product vendors / strategic alliance partners (in the event of tie-ups) for minimizing financial losses by ensuring that the Bank s rights and interests are comprehensively and adequately covered in the event of a future dispute.
Participate in opportunities for fostering strategic alliances with various external entities for expansion of business banking products and market penetration, along with positive ideas for new product launches. To present recommendations to finance through demonstration of strong numerical and analytical abilities, spot discrepancies in information, and effectively explain complex financial information
Mine information for specific data/ trends/ accuracy, and continuous monitoring/review to reconcile differences between recommendations vs budgeted, budgeted vs actuals, previous years vs current/projected, market trend data and other developments that may impact departments potential income
Monitor revenue and target projections and communicate with HODs within department for effective implementation on Y-O-Y/ M-O-M basis
To ensure MIS released by Finance and by the unit are in sync by regular review of published data, so that data consumed for reward-accruals are accurate, and to ensure that Finance MIS trends depict values aligned to the portfolio performance and internal activities
Ensure that enablers for achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the department are in place, with regular performance monitoring, quality measurement and systematic monitoring of their achievements in terms of assets and liabilities
Creation and compilation of necessary management reports / PPTs by engaging with Ops, MIS and Business teams, to inform senior management of the risk trends of the Unit / Product
Hold meetings with staff and assess their performance or performance gaps as well as the function s overall performance on a regular basis
Identify areas for professional development of self and team, and nurture talent within the team through coaching, training and communication
To ensure that team is motivated at all times, and team engagement levels are maintained through regular interactions, team discussions, motivational sessions, feedback etc
To engage and execute unit-wise or portfolio-wide projects by engaging with IT, Projects, Ops etc. in order to enhance earnings, improve process efficiencies, adhere to controls or to prevent financial losses for the Bank
To work with Bank appointed consultants on various strategy projects, and provide necessary data, process insights etc to allow completion of consultant recommendations to senior management
Possess a superior knowledge of the business banking products and services and related risks together with a good knowledge of associated operations and control
To manage trouble-shooting on an on-going basis so that team s momentum is maintained
To handle complex and high pressure situations through solution management and sound working relationship with stakeholders.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education: Bachelor/Masters (preferred)
Experience: At least 10-15 years of relevant banking experience, preferably with at least 5 years at a senior managerial position in business / corporate banking within a local or international bank.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective conveyance of product information, and effective collaboration/ deliberation with other functional units
- Proficient in analytical and presentation tools in order to be able to create engaging content.
- Understanding of relevant laws, regulations and practices pertaining to SME banking products.
- Ability to make decisions and follow through with initiatives.
- Personal Integrity, self-motivation and self-management.
- Outstanding problem solving and decision making skills.
- Planning, organizing and analytical ability, along with service based sales attitude.
- Ability to manage teams from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Leadership, Selling, Negotiation skills, with strong credit analysis skills to balance risk appetite
- Strong financial analytical capabilities, with high level of analytical and quantitative skills
- Ability to use information/data and various metrics to develop an informed and factual business case
