Tendering & Estimation Engineer

Job Summary:

Assist in cost estimation, tendering, and proposal preparation for power transmission projects (substations, OHL). Support coordination between internal teams, vendors, and clients to ensure timely, competitive bids and technical compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for transmission projects, including substations, overhead lines (OHL), and underground cabling.
• Review tender documents, technical specifications, and drawings to assess project scope and requirements.
• Conduct quantity take-offs for electrical, civil, and cable-related works.
• Estimate cable laying works, including trenching, duct installation, backfilling, and terminations.
• Evaluate BOQs and prepare pricing sheets with data from vendors and subcontractors.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and planning teams to gather technical and commercial inputs.
• Participate in site visits and support the preparation of site investigation or pre-bid reports.
• Respond to client queries and clarifications during the tendering process.
• Maintain and update databases for vendor pricing, subcontractor rates, and material costs.
• Analyze supplier quotations for major materials like cables, panels, and terminations.
• Contribute to the preparation of technical and commercial proposals.
• Support value engineering efforts to optimize costs and improve project efficiency.
• Collaborate with business development teams to provide technical insights and project documentation.
• Assist in bid tracking, submission status updates, and win/loss performance reporting.
• Ensure all estimations align with project specifications, standards, and local regulations.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in tendering/estimation (power transmission).
• Knowledge of substations, OHL, and transmission systems.
• Basic experience in supplier coordination and material sourcing.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, estimation tools, and documentation software.
• Strong coordination and communication skills.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
