Roles & Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The Trade Marketing Specialist is responsible for developing a marketing strategy aligned with the brand strategy while focusing on distribution, display, promotion, and price. The trade marketer analyzes competitive price movements, displays status, competitive promotions, sell-out data, and directs the sales teams where to take action every week.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

  • Execute trade marketing projects and promotional plans across all channels, including retailers, dealers, and showrooms (both online and offline).

  • Handle all trade promotions, placing promotions based on the marketing calendar.

  • Conduct regular market visits to monitor competitor activities, pricing strategies, promotion implementations, and stock levels across points of sale.

  • Propose sales and promotion plans for aged stocks.

  • Manage the small domestic appliances categories for the brand, working with the brand manager on planograms, promotions, merchandising, and communication for all sales channels.

  • Participate in product launches by giving presentations to the sales team on new stock-keeping units (SKUs).

  • Forecast various trade deals and consumer offers for the small domestic appliances category.

  • Track sell-out data by stock-keeping unit and analyze each product weekly for each point of sale or store, maintaining a proper sales tracker for display agreements and sales.

  • Attend to customer complaints and follow up with the concerned departments for solutions.

  • Conduct market research through customer questionnaires and focus groups.

  • Monitor competitor activity and evaluate the visibility and market coverage of company products, especially small domestic appliances, through regular market visits.

  • Collect and disseminate best practices for profitable trade marketing activities and product management.

  • Monitor spend optimization and assist dealers, distributors, and showrooms in selling out stock through various above-the-line and below-the-line activities and seasonal cycles. Ensure return on investment on trade displays and improve the cost percentage for display agreements.

  • Execute below-the-line activities such as new product launches, listings, sampling, and consumer promotions.

  • Achieve estimated sales on trade deals on a monthly and yearly basis.

  • Attend to customer complaints and follow up with the concerned departments for solutions, ensuring a feedback loop for continuous improvement.

  • Engage in market research activities, including customer questionnaires and focus groups, to gather insights and inform marketing strategies.

Managerial Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement marketing plans to achieve channel sales department objectives.

  • Create detailed project plans aligned with business development goals to ensure successful execution.

  • Manage trade marketing team budgets and ensure expenses stay within allocated limits.

  • Manage and maintain proper records of all trade display agreements and claims with retailers and vendors.

  • Ensure timely submission of all claims to finance on a monthly basis.

Organizational Responsibilities

  • Follow governance policies and procedures within their roles.

  • Collect and analyze data to prepare detailed reports. This includes analyzing weekly sell-out data by stock-keeping unit for each point of sale and maintaining a proper sales tracker for display agreements and sales.

  • Engage in training to improve management and technical skills, supporting team performance and MHAO’s objectives.

  • Coordinate change activities within teams, ensuring clear communication and seamless implementation.

Desired Candidate Profile

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in trade marketing, preferably in the retail or consumer goods industry

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful trade marketing strategies.

Educational Qualifications and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.

  • Proficiency in marketing software and tools, including CRM systems and data analysis tools
