Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Expertly trim, prepare, and portion various cuts of meat, ensuring consistent quality and presentation to meet customer demands.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to strict hygiene and food safety standards to prevent contamination.
  • Receive and inspect incoming meat deliveries, verifying quality and freshness while accurately documenting inventory.
  • Operate and maintain butchery equipment, including saws, grinders, and slicers, performing routine cleaning and minor maintenance.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, offering expert advice on meat selection, cooking methods, and recipe suggestions.
  • Collaborate with senior butchers and chefs to develop new meat products and menu offerings, showcasing creativity and culinary skills.
  • Monitor and manage meat inventory levels, minimizing waste and ensuring sufficient stock for daily operations.
  • Label and package meat products accurately, including weight, price, and relevant product information, to ensure transparency.
  • Assist in training junior staff members in butchery techniques, promoting a culture of learning and skill development.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to safety, sanitation, and food handling practices.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Possesses a high school diploma or equivalent, demonstrating a foundational level of education.
  • Has a minimum of 1-2 years of industry experience in a butchery or related role, demonstrating practical skills.
  • Exhibits a strong understanding of different cuts of meat, their origins, and optimal cooking methods.
  • Displays proficiency in using butchery tools and equipment, including knives, saws, and grinders.
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective interaction with customers and colleagues.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a passion for butchery.
  • Exhibits physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a cold environment.
  • Fluent in English; additional language skills are a plus, enhancing communication capabilities.
