Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Demi Chef de Partie to support the hot kitchen team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chef de Partie in preparing and cooking dishes for the hot section, ensuring consistency in portion control, flavour and presentation.

  • Support service by expediting tickets, plating to specification and ensuring timely delivery of orders.

  • Carry out mise en place and advance preparation work to agreed recipes and standards, including butchery, stocks, sauces and vegetable preparation.

  • Supervise and support junior kitchen staff and commis chefs during service, providing clear instruction and on-the-job coaching.

  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness in line with HACCP and company policies; complete cleaning and closing duties as required.

  • Monitor stock usage for the hot section, assist with inventory checks, ensure correct storage, labelling and rotation of ingredients and minimise food waste.

  • Report equipment faults, maintenance requirements and any health and safety hazards to senior kitchen staff promptly.

  • Contribute to menu development by offering ideas and feedback on dishes, production processes and service improvements.

  • Ensure correct handling of allergens and special dietary requirements, including adherence to halal procedures where applicable.

  • Undertake handovers, communicate effectively with the wider kitchen team and assist with training documentation where required.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience working in a hot kitchen as a Demi Chef de Partie, Chef de Partie or senior cook within restaurants, hotels or private households.

  • Solid knowledge of classical and contemporary cooking techniques relevant to the hot section, with the ability to follow recipes consistently.

  • Experience supervising and developing junior kitchen staff with good leadership and communication skills.

  • Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards; relevant food hygiene certification is desirable.

  • Ability to work accurately and calmly under pressure during busy service periods.
