The Planning Director is responsible for leading the overall planning and project controls function of the company to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery across all construction sites.

This position oversees the operational planning aspects of all ongoing and upcoming projects to ensure they are completed on time, and in accordance with contractual requirements. The Planning director is responsible for the Leading the group of planners and planning managers, Program management, EOT claims management, Tender Planning , Coordination, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor the planning team in developing comprehensive Contract Programs, revised programs, and recovery programs.
• Oversee the preparation of baseline and detailed project schedules, ensuring alignment with contractual requirements and construction methodologies.
• Draft/Review Contractual correspondences for Project Directors and Management.
• Review and approve project schedules, recovery plans, and time impact analyses submitted by internal teams or subcontractors.
• Regularly review internal dashboards and weekly/monthly progress reports.
• Review critical paths, propose and implement strategic improvements with project teams.
• Review programs and develop recovery strategies collaboratively with project stakeholders.
• Evaluate subcontractor schedules and reports, ensuring compliance and alignment with project objectives.
• Manage and lead the preparation and submission of Extension of Time (EOT) claims with robust delay analysis.
• Oversee the development and accuracy of technical submissions and planning deliverables during tender stages.
• Evaluate tender documents and advise management on appropriate project durations based on scope and scale.
• Prepare tender programs, method statements, resource histograms, and cash flow forecasts tailored to project needs.
• Collaborate with site teams to prepare and consolidate global manpower requirements for resource planning and forecasting.
• Monitor project KPIs and critical paths, and provide early warnings of potential delays and risks.
• Direct a team of planning engineers and project controllers across multiple projects.
• Report project status to senior management with detailed analysis and recommendations for corrective action.
• Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum of 15 years’ experience in planning and project controls within the construction/contracting industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of planning software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, and Power BI.
• Proven track record in managing large-scale projects (infrastructure, buildings, or industrial) from pre-construction to handover.
• Solid understanding of FIDIC contracts and delay analysis techniques.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
• Strategic Thinking; Risk Management; Decision Making; Contractual Awareness; Technical Planning Expertise & Leadership & Team Management are key competencies required.
