Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • This role supports our green building certification services in Europe.
  • The position will require knowledge in building design and construction technologies and methodologies.
  • This role reports to the Technical Directors and supports projects and clients in improving sustainability performance and achieving high green certification ratings.
  • As a Sustainability Consultant, you will manage the LEED and WELL certification process across multiple projects, with opportunities to expand into broader sustainability consulting services as the practice grows.

Business Development and Market Growth

  • Lead business development activities for sustainability technical services including certification, building physics, and energy management
  • Identify and pursue opportunities with developers, asset owners, architects, and project managers across priority sectors.
  • Maintain and expand a strong professional network within the built environment industry to support market growth.
  • Lead client engagement activities including meetings, technical briefings, and workshops to promote the firm s service capabilities.
  • Support strategic positioning of the sustainability technical services offering in target markets.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and collaborators.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to clients on sustainability certification, building performance, and energy optimisation strategies.
  • Represent the firm at industry forums, conferences, and professional events to strengthen brand visibility and credibility.

Technical Leadership and Project Oversight

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight across sustainability certification, building physics, and energy modelling projects.
  • Act as Project Director or Technical Authority for complex projects and large-scale developments.
  • Ensure that technical deliverables meet the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and compliance with relevant frameworks and standards.
  • Oversee the preparation of certification submissions, performance analyses, and technical reports.

Team Leadership and Capability Development

  • Lead, manage and mentor teams delivering sustainability certification, energy modelling, and building performance analysis services.
  • Provide technical guidance and quality review for key project outputs.
  • Support recruitment, professional development, and capability building within the sustainability technical services team.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture focused on innovation and technical excellence.

Operational and Commercial Management

  • Monitor project performance, including resourcing, utilisation, and financial outcomes.
  • Ensure effective project planning, coordination, and delivery across the technical services portfolio.
  • Meets annual targets of business development, revenue, Invoicing, utilization and profitability In managing operational performance and service line growth.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality assurance and project management procedures.

Industry Engagement and Innovation

  • Support development of innovative methodologies, tools, and service offerings related to building performance and sustainability certification.
  • Contribute to thought leadership initiatives including publications, technical presentations, and industry engagement.
  • Support cross-disciplinary bids and major project pursuits across the organisation.
  • Strong commercial and business development capability within sustainability technical services.
  • Advanced technical knowledge in building performance, sustainability certification, and energy modelling.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary technical teams and complex project delivery.
  • Excellent client engagement and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical analysis into practical solutions for clients and project teams.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to identify emerging market opportunities.

Desired Candidate Profile

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include a minimum of 20+ years of professional experience in sustainability consulting, building performance, or environmental design.

Proven experience delivering sustainability certification and building performance services on major developments. Demonstrated track record in business development and client relationship management. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing project delivery Postgraduate qualifications (e.g. MBA, MSc in Sustainability, or Project/Program Management) would be a strong advantage. and active LEED AP, BREEAM Assessor / AP, WELL AP, CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant. Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or equivalent.
