Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

EGA Strategy

• Assist the SVP, Strategy and Corporate Development in coordinating the development of the overall EGA strategy and business objectives.
• Syndicates and ensures alignment across EGA management.
• Ensure the alignment and delivery of EGA strategic priorities by communicating strategy to internal and where appropriate external stakeholders

Policies, Processes & Procedures

• Develops and oversees the implementation of department policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of Strategy and Corporate Development department activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service

Value capture (internal consulting)

• Structures and leads simultaneously multiple strategic projects that support the execution of the EGA strategy and delivers value to EGA, in coordination with the relevant business owner. Projects may cover all business areas of EGA and include both revenue enhancing initiatives as well as cost reduction (Opex and Capex) initiatives.

Asset Management

• Leads activities pertaining to the international assets acquired by EGA, tracking of their performance and provides guidance and support to the assets in order to support effective performance of assets and to update the management to take necessary decisions

Business Development

• Manages business development activities for strategic projects, in coordination with Mubadala, including aluminium bauxite and be involved in major negotiations and meeting as required in order to ensure EGA management provides support and is kept informed about these activities

Ad-hoc Requests Screening

• Manages the reactive screening of ad-hoc requests from different sources
• Manages negotiations and meetings as required with regards to the reactive screening

Leadership

• Manages the effective achievement of Strategy and Corporate Development departmental objectives through the leadership of the Strategy and Corporate Development department – setting individual objectives, recruiting qualified staff, managing performance, developing and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal – in order to maximize subordinate and departmental performance
• Manages multiple teams on different projects simultaneously, potentially including managers, associates and analysts

  1. AUTHORITY/ DECISION MAKING:

• Leads multiple strategic initiatives and make recommendations to specific projects led by job holder
• For asset management: Approval of operational activities, with appropriate escalation, as specified in EGA’s Delegation of Authority.

Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration/ Finance/ Strategy or related specialization


Minimum Experience:

  • 9+ years relevant experience in Strategy or Finance including at least 6 years in positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities as well as experience in a top consulting firm


Skills:

  • Experience in metals and mining

  • Solid background in strategy development and implementation

  • Experience in Business Development

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills exhibited by the ability to approach complex and ambiguous business problems

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Excellent meeting facilitation skills and presentation skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work peer to peer with senior executives
