Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage and organize case files, ensuring that all documents are accurately filed and easily accessible for attorneys.
- Draft and proofread legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, and contracts, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Coordinate communication between clients, attorneys, and court personnel, acting as the primary point of contact for all legal inquiries.
- Schedule and manage appointments, hearings, and trials, ensuring that all parties are informed and prepared.
- Conduct legal research to assist attorneys in case preparation, gathering relevant statutes and precedents to support arguments.
- Maintain and update the firm’s database and case management software, ensuring all information is current and compliant.
- Prepare billing statements and assist in managing client accounts, ensuring timely invoicing and payment follow-up.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of court documents, adhering to strict deadlines and procedural rules.
- Monitor and track case progress, providing updates to attorneys and clients as necessary.
- Provide administrative support to attorneys, including managing correspondence and maintaining office supplies.
Desired Candidate Profile
- A minimum of an associate degree in legal studies or a related field; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
- At least 2-3 years of experience in a legal environment, preferably within a law firm or corporate legal department.
- Certification as a Legal Secretary (CLS) or a similar credential will be highly regarded.
- Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures is essential for effective communication and document preparation.
- Proficiency in legal software and tools, such as case management systems and document automation software.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear and concise interaction with clients and colleagues.
- Attention to detail is crucial, as accuracy in legal documentation can significantly impact case outcomes.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, fostering a supportive work environment.
- Bilingual candidates are preferred, especially in languages commonly spoken in the local community, to enhance client communication.
